Calm partnered with Google to create a meditative VR experience focused on sound. The animations needed to be rooted in the six different sounds the user could toggle on and off: Rain, Rustling Leaves, Birds, Acoustic Plucks, Droning Bass, and Synth Pads. The functionality within the app was limited to rotation, scale and position which presented a fun challenge.
The solution was rooted in the geometry of wind chimes and the moiré patterns created as diagonal line pass in front of one anther. This implied movement brought a subtle flow to the animations that felt calm and mesmorizing.
